The Roanoke Valley is a calm peaceful place to live, with many of the amenities of a large city and the comfort of a small town.  Roanoke County is primarily the urban area and Bedford, Franklin and Pittsylvania Counties are rural.  So slow down, and enjoy the many features of this Valley.  Smith Mountain Lake is a jewel for the area, and is a recreational area that includes golf, boating, tennis, swimming and much more.  Bedford County's World War II memorial honors the solders that laid down their life for our freedom.  While the activities are many, we tried to include information about the area - government, recreational, businesses, etc. Small businesses in this economic environment are dynamic and may have changed their phone numbers and websites, or may not be in business any longer. While we attempt to keep the website up to date, sometimes we may miss a change.
